There is a small microclimate forest near Seward, Alaska at Lowell Point. It is like walking into the closet and into Narnia. I've been here a few times. Once on a sunny day and I thought it was beautiful. Then I went on a rainy day and it was magical! The colors everywhere were more vibrant. The rain droplets left everything glistening. It was to so quiet you could hear the drops of rain landing on a variety of surfaces making it so harmonious... hard to explain the awe I had in those few hours of exploring here. Definitely a place to take your time and admire the beautiful moss-covered trees down to the tiny, yet beautiful fungi growing on the forest floor.
This stump I photographed on both days. They look so very different because the lighting was so different.
Why I love this image... It speaks to me like a hug from the next generation. It is also a reminder that aging is beautiful... yes, I keep telling myself that. ;)
Color image. Available in 2:3 ratio. As always, the image on the blog is not as sharp as your printed image.
My recommendations... This image is beautiful on raw metal (see details below) or standard photographic paper. Metal prints do not require a frame, but if you are ordering a standard photo and you are struggling with a frame, a safe color is black. Or see your local framer for you many options and professional opinions.

RAW METAL
Metal prints come in a white base or raw metal (reflective / brushed metal look) base. Raw metal finishes a little darker than on a white base. On raw metal, whites come out a bit grey. But when the light hits it... it sings! It pops off the wall and demands attention. I don't recommend raw metal for a lot of images, but when I do... I know you will not be disappointed. White base is available on the online ordering system. Raw Metal is a custom order, just call or email me and I will offer it at the same price as the white base metal print.
